Subspecialty Expertise.
Personal Attention.

Endurance Orthopedics & Sports Medicine was founded on the principle that patients deserve direct access to fellowship-trained subspecialists — without the layers, the handoffs, or the wait times that come with larger systems.

Our surgeons trained at Northwestern University, Emory University, and Duke University — and they chose to bring that depth of academic training to an independent, physician-led practice where every decision is made by the surgeon who knows your case.

Direct surgeon access — your care is led by a fellowship-trained specialist from first visit to final follow-up

Coordinated subspecialty care — sports medicine and joint reconstruction in one practice, working together

Physician-led decisions — your treatment plan is made by the surgeon who knows your case, not by committee

Subspecialty Training.
Proven Results.

Each of our surgeons has completed fellowship training in their subspecialty, bringing focused expertise and advanced technique to every procedure.

Mark D. Scholl, M.D.

Orthopedic Sports Medicine & Surgery

Dr. Scholl is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in complex reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. A graduate of Northwestern University Medical School, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University and his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Utah — bringing him to the Wasatch Front, where he has practiced ever since. His focus is on cartilage preservation, restoration of joint stability, and ligament reconstruction through arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques. An active endurance athlete himself — including finishing the Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run — Dr. Scholl understands from personal experience what it takes to return to the sport you love.

Daniel S. Mangiapani, M.D.

Adult Joint Reconstruction & Replacement

Dr. Mangiapani is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in the preservation and reconstruction of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He spent 15 years at Duke University — earning his undergraduate degree cum laude on an athletic scholarship as a Division I baseball player, completing medical school where he graduated at the top of his class, and finishing his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. He then completed a dedicated joint replacement fellowship under Dr. Aaron Hofmann. His arthritis research contributed to the 2015 Kappa Delta Award at the AAOS National Meeting, and he has published award-winning papers and spoken at national and international conferences.

His expertise spans primary, complex, and revision joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder — including muscle-sparing direct anterior total hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and robotic-assisted procedures. He also participates in Operation Walk Utah's annual surgical mission to El Salvador. Outside the OR, he enjoys skiing, golf, and time with his wife Lisa and their three children.
